1
Renault 4
AVO705H
Sold My first car, blew engine and never quite got the replacement to run!
2
Hillman Avenger
MAL***K
Written off I missed a bend and landed it in a ploughed field...
3
Toyota Corolla Estate
WVO189M
Sold Great car, did lots of miles in it.
4
Morris Marina Coupe
KRB986P
Sold Good looking car, but it was a Marina. Had fun in it though. pic
5
Vauxhall Viva
******K
Scrapped Cheap, stop-gap car, made a net profit on it!
DKF111K
My sister's car Included here because I did the paintjob on it, effectively my first classic Resto!
6
Skoda Estelle
MRR197W
Px'd Cheap, reliable runabout that saw me through Uni.
7
Datsun 100a estate
******K
Written off My wife's first car
8
Toyota Corolla
RWA***S
Sold My wife's second car. Done up; because I couldn't match the colour I painted it black.
9
Skoda Estelle
UWJ162S
Scrapped Bought because my wife liked my Skoda, but we found the pre-1980 models weren't as good. In the end I couldn't be bothered to put the engine back together. pic
10
Volvo 345GL
XTL200X
Px'd Good reliable car. I once had a lift in a Volvo and promised myself I'd own one. This was the first. pic
11
BL Mini
UCH358X
Sold Great fun, a runabout. pic1 pic2
12
BL Metro
MTO710W
Sold Replaced the Mini. Probably a mistake! pic
13
BL Metro
E174DVW
Sold Replaced the earlier Metro. Much better car. pic
14
Citroen BX16TRS
D980PNT
Px'd Nice car but mechanically a bit fragile. pic
15
Volvo 245GLE
BVE416V
Px'd Replaced the Metro when the arrival of our first child made packing baby, buggy, and two dogs too much of an expedition! Fantastic car.
16
Nissan Prairie
A480MLJ
Px'd Practical replacement for the BX as the family grew. pic
17
Citroen AX14D
J60LUS (J42?ARR)
Px'd Our first (and only) brand-new car! Bought because we needed extreme economy due to the mileage at the time. Good car, liked it a lot.
18
Vauxhall Carlton 2.0 estate
E***YRR
Px'd Replaced the aging Volvo for towing duties; by now we were caravanning most weekends. Very capable if uninspiring.
19
Citroen ZX19D
(K******) J60LUS
Px'd Bought as larger replacement for AX. Driven through a flooded ford, needing a new engine afterwards (with only 24k on the clock!).
20
Toyota LandCruiser HJ60
XIB3445 (B203LRA)
Px'd Bought when we got fed up of getting the Carlton stuck on muddy caravan fields. One of the best cars I have ever owned and I wish I'd never sold it. pic
21
Landrover Discovery TDiS
L465YNX
Px'd Big mistake. For what this cost me I could have kept the LandCruiser and bought a Previa as well. Noisy engine and poor build quality.
22
Rover 218SLD
(K530OFE) J60LUS
Px'd Lovely car, well built and fast. Bought from my parents.
23
Toyota Previa
K45FNN
Px'd Nice car, better at towing than 4x4s, and tons of space for loadcarrying too.
24
Suzuki Vitara 1.6JLX
(J***EEE) J60LUS
Px'd Jane wanted a 4x4 too. But this was a tinny heap and we got rid after just six months.
25
Toyota Carina 1.6E
(K316HCH) J60LUS
Px'd Bought for the economy - mileage was high again! Totally reliable. Slightly boring.
26
Mitsubishi Shogun 2.6
E577KRY
Px'd Good body, wrong engine. Capable enough, but struggled a bit while towing. pic
27
Toyota LandCruiser HJ60
F30BWA
Px'd Bought because I wanted anothr LandCruiser, but this one was a poor choice; not a good example.
28
642LVO
Now sold to a good home in North Yorkshire My first classic car, restored over 4 years until it eventually won a prize at the Club show.
29
Wolseley 16/60
BCF707C
Scrapped Next classic car. A mistake really; it was too far gone, especially as it took me three years to start work on it. pic
30
Triumph Herald
KWJ660D
Still have it! Too much of a challenge for the time I have - breaking what remains. pic
31
PTV911G
Still have it! My first completed restoration. Lovely little car. I drive this a lot.
32
Toyota Hilux Surf
J210AVO
Sold Lovely car this, though a bit underpowered for towing. pic
33
Toyota Previa
(J891FGT) J60LUS
Broken for spares When I had an accident and Jane was driving me arround I noticed she rode the clutch a lot and suggested she'd be better with an auto. This was her choice and she loved it - I called it "Jane's van" as it carries all manner of stuff in the back! Eventually the bodywork needed so much work we bought another. pic
34
Hillman Minx
DRR821C
Now sold Bought at Newark Autojumble auction. Still needs some welding and a new paintjob. Sold part-finished. pic
35
Mercedes 230TE
F980MNU
Scrapped Replaced the Hilux due to cash shortage; I decided to buy an older quality car. Everything I expected from a Merc. Unfortunately the cylinder head corroded and it needed more spending than it was worth.
36 Nissan Sunny 1.6LX D****** Scrapped Given by my sister-in-law; body good, but cracked head and not worth repairing. Drove it until the tax ran out (topping the water up every 25 miles!)
37
OAB464L
Still have it! Bought for my son, to restore for when he's old enough! Daughter has her eye on it now though, but I think I'll end up with it.
38
RRU328H
Sold Bought to restore. Sold after rebuilding but before paintwork to clear stocks!
39
Triumph Herald
MAK***G
Scrapped Bought purely for spares.
40
Morris Minor 1000
XYL224G
Sold Intended for restoration, but couldn't find the time. Pic1 Pic2
41
AAS290
Still have it! Bought for a fiver, complete bar steering column and running! We intended to customise this one, but I don't think we'll get time - too many Minis!
42
Fiat 126
G120YBP
Sold (to sister) Bought to restore. Used as runabout for a few months - economical and fun! pic1 pic2
43
Fiat 126
D******
Scrapped Bought as spares car.
44
MYG198V
Still have it! Bought for my son (again!). Needs minor restoration. Better than it ought to be for £65!
45
Saab 9000S
G42LUJ
Sold Bought as a cheap(ish) stop-gap while the Merc engine was sick. This was a fantastic car - comfortable and very fast. Loved it, but sadly it had to go because it was too thirsty for the commute to my new job. pic
46
Triumph 1300
LKC716E
Sold Bought for my daughter this time! Needs light restoration work, but what a car for its age! Now sold. pic1 pic2 pic3
47
Fiat 126
G120YBP
Sold again! Sister gave me the car back when the engine went; I sold it on cheaply (to an enthusiast). pic1 pic2
48
Rover 218SLD
M218UMK
Sold cheap to a local chap. Bought as an economical runabout for work, which it is. Not the prettiest Rover around but it does its job. pic
49
Vauxhall Omega CD estate
N483EMJ
Now sold. Bought cheap with a blown engine, cos it has an lpg conversion. Has taken about 6 months to get the replacement engine fitted and running properly :-( Done a quarter-million miles. It works, but it's dull. pic
50
FGH287T
Still have it! Winter runabout. I love Minis and this was my daily driver until daughter Hollz claimed it to learn to drive in.
51
Mercedes E220 T
K456JDT
Still have it! Another Merc, to replace the Omega. Brilliant! pic
52 Toyota Previa (N363YUX) J60LUS Still have it! The family runabout, replacement for the old one. Just as good but better!
53 Mini Clubman EYV415J Still have it! The latest Mini in the fleet, bought to restore ready for youngest daughter Linzie. Which means I can drive it unitl then!
