Pollo a la Crema (version 1)

A first attempt to emulate a favourite Italian restaurant recipe.
Not quite what I intended but good enough to cook again!

Ingredients
2 uncooked boneless chicken breasts
1 medium onion, chopped
2 thin slices ham
1/2 5oz carton cream
4oz mushrooms, sliced
2oz cheddar cheese, grated
1/4 pint (approx) milk
1 chicken stock cube
1/4 pint white wine

Fry the onions and mushrooms together until golden. Wrap the chicken in the ham and add to the pan, fry gently on both sides. Meanwhile, make the sauce - a roux with 1/2 oz margarine and flour, add the milk and stock cube, stirring to a smooth pouring sauce, then add the cheese and cream. Next add a sprinkling of flour to the chicken, add the wine and reduce. Pour the sauce over and cook together for about 5 minutes. Serve with rice or pasta.
